Just stopped for a delicious bowl of Pho and some Saigon style rolls—a fresh salad roll wrapped around a crispy deep fried roll— pure heaven in each bite. The greens in Vietnam 🇻🇳 🍃 hands down are the most amazing selection of fresh veggies I’ve ever tasted 🥗🍲🥢🍃 🍃🍃🍃 the scents alone in the markets are enough fresh, citrusy, zesty delight to make you stop for a moment and just enjoy. Me looking particularly tacky and touristy in my traditional Vietnamese Non La—conical leaf hat 🍃
Legend has it the Non La was mirrored after a goddess who appeared during a time of torrential rain and donned the same style of hat— hers was large enough to protecting all the people and farms against the weather and casting away the bad weather at the same time. Following that the Vietnamese people went into the forest and recreated the same style of hat to be donned for rain, or sun to protect the wearer 🌧 ☀️ While cruising the Mekong Delta our kind guide shared these hats with us to protect against the strong morning sun ☀️ 🚣‍♀️ •

I am Canadian—do I celebrate Canada day on July 1?— No. Am I proud and thankful for this beautiful land and the people that share it with me— absolutely. Scientists say that the indigenous people of Kanata have inhabited this land for over 12,000 years, so regardless of what colonizers signed 151 years ago I am thankful and reminded of whose land I stand on.
